CH1ChesterBID arrange for mothers of Chester to be spoiled

The city’s Business Improvement District is filling the streets of Chester with gifts, flowers and chocolates on the run-up to Mothering Sunday.

Mothers are to be celebrated by the city of Chester this Mother’s Day as CH1ChesterBID arrange for the streets to be filled with presents for all the mothers and caregivers that so deserve to be treated.

Whether picked up by a child to surprise their mother (or carer) on Mother’s Day or picked up by mothers themselves, the message is clear from Chester – ‘Spoil Your Mum’ this Mother’s Day.

Sustainably wrapped, brown boxes and bags will be placed by significant landmarks around the city on the week running up to Mother’s Day decorated with ‘Spoil your Mum’ labels. CH1ChesterBIDs social media channels will report on the locations to make sure followers know where to be in order to secure a gift. Whilst gifts will be appearing throughout the week, the majority of gifts and fresh flowers will be available on the Saturday preceding Mother’s Day, in order that children can come to the city centre and find a present for the next day.

High-street favourites and locally loved stores including Marks & Spencers, Debenhams, Penhaligons, The Violet Palm, Watergate Street Gallery and L’Occitane are all donating gifts with mothers in mind, from toiletries to trinkets and flowers to chocolates.

Amongst the beautifully wrapped parcels will be several dining out gifts. These will include eating out vouchers for Afternoon Tea in The Tea Press at Debenhams, Bottomless Fizz lunch for 2 at Veeno and £40 to spend at pizzeria Dough Dough.

A showstopping gift comes in the form of a pamper hamper worth over £130 filled with beauty products and artificial flowers from Marks & Spencers, as well as a hamper from homeware and craft favourite, Søstrene Grene.

Larger gifts with high values will be gifted in voucher form to be retrieved from the shop in question. Other gifts of smaller values like flowers and chocolates will be given out to be taken straight home to wait to be gifted and opened on Mothering Sunday.

Emily Ghazarian, CH1ChesterBID Marketing & Events Manager, said: “Mothering Sunday provides an opportunity for our BID members to say thank you to the mothers and caregivers who play a huge part in keeping homes and families running smoothly.

We recognise that, now, more than ever before the pressure on families is enormous. It is so easy to stay at home and shop online, yet we continue to see parents and their families visit the city centre for retail, food and drink and leisure experiences – continuing to drive footfall and success for our city.

Mothers, more perhaps than any other part of society, respect the power and gift of community and this is Chester’s way of giving back to them for their continued support to the high street.

All our carefully wrapped packages and brown bags will be labelled with ‘Spoil Your Mum’ logo so children can spot them easily and are free to pick up and take home ready to treat your mothers.’
