The Prix de L’Arc to be screened in 1539 Restaurant & Bar
October 7, 2018£27.50
Will Enable be the comeback queen as the Prix de L’Arc heads back to the newly transformed home of Longchamp? Her success in Europe’s richest race at Chantilly last year capped off an amazing season which had started here at Chester when she won the Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks under Frankie Dettori in 2017.
A setback earlier this year, when suffering a knee injury, meant a chance to defend her crown looked unlikely. However, under the patient handling of trainer John Gosden, hopes were raised, when she emphatically trounced a small field at Kempton. That victory confirmed she was back to her best and back at the top of the betting market.
Other contenders include Cracksman. Also trained by Gosden, this son of Frankel has not been seen since Royal Ascot in June. He’s now got his soft ground which he loves and may be a good each-way bet. Talking of a good each-way bet we must consider the Aiden O’Brien trained Magic Wand. A superb performance round the Roodee in May and Ascot in June should be remembered and we can forget her two runs later when the stable was under a cloud of a virus. Signs she is back to her best when just beaten in France on Sunday 16th September means the 50/1 on offer with some firms is far too big.
All races from the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe will be screened live in 1539 Restaurant & Bar on Sunday 7 October at what will be the last of a series of Away Screening events in 2018. Keen spectators will be invited to enjoy a three-course lunch in the restaurant that overlooks the final furlong and Chester Racecourse paddock. Chester Bet will also be on hand offering a chance for guests a chance to have a flutter.
Tickets for the day are available for just £27.50 per person. We advise advance booking to guarantee a spot.
