Chester’s festive shoppers helped Grosvenor Shopping Centre raise over £2,000 for local charity, Save The Family, by taking part in the centre’s family-friendly Festive Fun Zone last month.
There were smiles all around as children jumped for joy in the Bouncy Castle Snow Globe, rocked away on the Rodeo Reindeer, before flying in to the snow ball pit. Four lucky winners were also gifted prizes by completing a ‘naughty elves stolen toy’ competition.
During the week before Christmas, shoppers, families and local residents kindly donated to take part in the festive fun fair and the event helped raise £2,192 for Save The Family, a Chester-based charity who provides accommodation and support to vulnerable homeless families in the local area.
Save the Family has been the shopping centre’s ‘Charity of the year’ for 2021 and several smaller events were held by staff of the centre over the year to help raise funds; such as pub quizzes and raffles. The Festive Fun zone was the finale event and helped double the fundraising efforts.
Dee Tuttle from Save The Family said: “The event kept us very busy in the run up to Christmas, it was so busy! We are very thankful for all the funds raised from the lovely visitors to the festive fun zone and the centre staff. We really appreciate it and will be putting the money to a great cause, providing residential accommodation and support for families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.”
Julie Webb, Centre Manager, commented: “We are thrilled that the Christmas event was such a success, and it was great seeing so many families enjoying the festivities. What makes it even more poignant is that we raised a significant amount of money for a local charity that helps families stay together when homeless. A wonderful way to give back this Christmas”.
