Dutch inspired artisan chip shop, Chip’d, officially opened on Northgate Street on Saturday 9th February. With the promise of free chips for the first 100 through the door, visitors turned up en masse with queues stretching down Northgate Street.
Opened by Chester MP, Chris Matheson, guests flocked to the new shop to sample the ‘twice-fried’ potato chips and sauces that are commonly served in the Netherlands, a concept that founder, Andrew McKechnie, was keen to introduce to Chester’s burgeoning food and drink scene.
Andrew comments: “We’ve been bowled over by the support we’ve received since opening – we couldn’t have asked for a better reception. When looking for premises a year ago, I instantly gravitated to Northgate Street as there’s a real hub of activity and a great community of bars and restaurants. We’re delighted to be part of that scene and to give the people of Chester the best chips they’ve ever tasted.”
Chip’d is now open for business seven days a week from 11am ‘til 6pm and 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, visit: https://chipd.co.uk or follow @chipflipdip on Instagram.
