Taste Cheshire Farmer’s Market is held on the third Saturday of the month outside Chester Town Hall. There were fears that with the current situation and the cancellation of so many events in the area that it would not go ahead however organisers have confirmed that the popular event will be taking place as planned this Saturday.
Taste Cheshire General Manager Briony Wilson said, “We have sought advice around our monthly event and given we are an outdoor event where social distancing is easily achieved, we have taken the decision to stage this month’s event.
All the appropriate safeguards will be in place to ensure the highest standards of food retailing are observed. We believe this style of food retailing may actually be a safer alternative to the crowded supermarkets.”
Taste Cheshire support local producers to help them find a wider audience for their products. Miss Wilson added, ”It is important to our local food producers as this and many other events like it pay the bills for them and their families and so we felt it incumbent upon us to do everything possible to continue to provide a route to market for our members and ensure our regular customers got the products they enjoy at what is a very tough time for everybody.”
Organisers have been pleased with the response through social media with comments on posts showing people’s desire for an outdoor activity and with the weather forecast showing a bright sunny day it could be the ideal exercise for those trapped in the home for too long over this extended winter. The market features products from right across the county with regular attendees servicing customers who turn up regularly for their monthly fix of great tasting Cheshire produce.
The market takes place on Town Hall Square from 9.00am until 4.00pm
