Following the news that Chester has been named the world’s first sustainable palm oil city, the iconic city-centre hotel has been working closely with Chester Zoo to expand its existing environmental policies and become a sustainable partner. To coincide with this, The Chester Grosvenor has launched an art competition for children in the locality on the topic of a sustainable future.
Children will be invited to draw what their hometown would look like in one hundred years to come in a ‘green’ future. Entrants are encouraged to be as creative as possible in depicting a futuristic, environmentally friendly vision.
Entries will be shortlisted before three winners are selected to win the following prizes:
- 1st Prize – A meal at La Brasserie with two accompanying guardians, a £50 Love to Shop voucher and the drawing displayed in the hotel.
- 2nd Prize – a £50 Love to Shop voucher and the drawing displayed in the hotel.
- 3rd Prize – a £25 Love to Shop voucher and the drawing displayed in the hotel.
General Manager of The Chester Grosvenor, Richard Grove, comments: “We carefully consider the impact of our business on the environment and have a commitment to being as green as possible, from using renewable energy where possible to harvesting natural resources.”
“With Chester being named the world’s first sustainable palm oil city, we’re delighted to be working closely with Chester Zoo in order to expand our policies. It’s a huge testament to the county and a great opportunity to educate children on the importance of protecting the environment. We look forward to receiving the entries and selecting some fantastic artwork to display in the hotel!”
