Chester’s Italian Restaurants, Sergio’s and Da Noi, win Italian Awards

Italiant Restauraunts, DaNoi and Sergio’s, in Chester  have won prestigious awards in this year’s Italian Awards.

Ristorante Sergio in St Werburgh Street surpassed competition from across England and Wales to win the Best Pasta award and DaNoi on Bridge Street scooped the award for ‘Best Authentic Italian Menu’ in the UK’s biggest Italian hospitality and business competition.

The Italian Awards aim to recognise the best Italian businesses across England and Wales, and the finalists – in 15 categories – are chosen by the public.

Following a visit from a panel of independent judges, the winners were announced at the gala final, on Sunday night (October 6), in Manchester.

Family-owned Sergio’s, which recently celebrated 50 years of providing Italian food to the people of Chester, were thrilled to receive recognition for their pasta.

Independently owned restaurant, Da Noi, run by husband and wife team Fabrizio Gobbato and Valentina Aviotti, opened last year and has proved to be be a popular addition to the city centre. Chef, Valentina, takes inspiration form the tastes and culture of Northern Italy, where the couple lived before moving to the UK.

They tweeted: “We officially have the best authentic Italian menu of all England and Wales! This not only represents a massive milestone for us, but also an incredible statement for the mission of authenticity and quality we are carrying ahead. Our new starting point is here.”
